#7 about Robbie Williams

Quoting Robbie Williams, when's it gonna stop, DJ?

Apparently never because my teenage love for Robbie Williams seems to be unchanged.

I was never really such a HUGE fan but since the first time I saw the Feel video where RW looks so handsome, I knew that I’d buy Escapology. And I did. I bought that one and then the next one and then the next one. He’s always been there, even in the background.

So when a friend wrote to me if I wanted to watch Better Man with her, I said ABSOFRUCTELY YES. It’s about Robbie Williams, it’s a musical, a monkey is the main character, what else could I want? Well, let me tell you I got more than what I bargained for! Especially amazing is the whole Rock DJ sequence, truly what musical dreams are made of.

But same as when I read Britney Spears’ autobiography and watched Framing Britney Spears, it changed what I thought about these pop icons I so followed. It’s not a new story: fame and a lot of money at a young age mess up with you and the industry doesn't seem to care. And yet, we can’t seem to have enough. The music industry just keeps going and things don’t seem to be getting better, as said by Chappell Roan during her acceptance speech when she won the Best New Artist award, “labels, we got you, but do you got us?”. (Still a bit disingenuous but the message still stands, in my opinion).

The story seems to be repeating itself over and over again… and I’ll watch a freaking musical about it every single time.

I’m part of the problem.

enjoyed and enjoying

✷ Watched Nosferatu right in the first row of the cinema because we got there too late and my neck hasn't been the same ever since. I loved the whole vibe and aesthetics, plus all the memes with Count Orlok and his mustache. Also loved this piece about pretty girls with rotten brains.

eso es todo por esta vez, happy rest of February and Valentine's Day if I don't write before that (which probably I won't)!
